Revenue seize over 137,000 smuggled cigarettes at Dublin Airport and Port

Revenue seized over 137,000 smuggled cigarettes in two separate stings at  Dublin Airport and Port.

On Sunday morning, officers raided a refrigerated truck at Dublin Port containing 28,700 smuggled 'Marlboro Gold' cigarettes.The driver, a Lithuanian man in his mid 30s, was questioned and the truck was seized and later released on payment of a penalty.

On Sunday night, as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers at Dublin Airport also seized 108,780 smuggled cigarettes from 22 passengers arriving from Chisinau, Moldova.

The cigarettes were branded ‘Marlboro’, ‘Kent’, ‘Winston’, ‘Monte Carlo’,’ L&M’, ‘Pall Mall’, ‘Glamour’, ‘Camel’ and ‘John Player’.
