€300k worth of cigarettes seized at Dublin Port were registered as "cleaning products"
REVENUE OFFICERS SEIZED 600,000 cigarettes at Dublin Port today, worth almost €304,000.
The ‘L & M’ cigarettes, which originated in Poland, were described as “cleaning products” when they were shipped into Dublin Port via Rotterdam.
The discovery was part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy, with this particular seizure representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of €261,000.
Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
