Amritsar: The customs authorities recovered 2 kg unclaimed gold from the Air India Express flight that arrived at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport from Dubai on Sunday.
As per a release issued by the customs department, gold bars weighing 2 kg were recovered during rummaging of the Air India Express Flight IX-198 by the anti-smuggling unit of the department.
Sources said the passengers carrying the gold could have been scared of getting arrested upon recovery of smuggled metal and abandoned it in the aircraft.
The smuggled gold has been seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
