Mumbai: Three people were arrested on Wednesday with 23 kg smuggled gold worth Rs 17 crore besides Rs 40 lakh cash. In a curious twist, the arrest mirrors rivalry among members of a gold smuggling gang, with one faction ratting on their aide to get him arrested.
The arrested persons — Payal Jain, Pankhu Devi and Rajesh Shivraji Jain – on whom the gold was found had tried to tell on their accomplice in a bid to hide their own dark deeds, said officials of Directorate Revenue of Intelligence.
