Hyderabad: Kalapathar police arrested four persons for trying to circulate counterfeit 2,000 denomination currency notes and recovered 69 lakh worth fake currency from them. A criminal case was registered.
Acting on specific information, cops arrested Zahed Khan, 45, a salesman from Madeena Market, Mohammed Rayeesuddin, 46, an AC mechanic from Tadban, Mohammed Anwar, 36, a real estate businessman from Kalapathar and Mohammed Muneer Ali, 40, a flower merchant from Chandrayangutta while they were trying to exchange fake 2,000 currency notes on Wednesday afternoon at Mochi Colony in Kalapathar.
Two of their associates, Khaja Naveeduddin of Chintal in Quthbullapur and Shinde from Nizamabad, are absconding. Cops seized a bag containing 35 bundles of fake notes from the accused.Zahed revealed to cops that he along with his friend Khaja planned to earn easy money by circulating fake currency. As per the plan, Khaja sent fake currency to Zahed through Shinde.
“Zahed along with his associates was trying to exchange the fake notes with gullible people. The accused keeps genuine currency notes on the top and bottom of a bundle while keeping the counterfeit notes in the middle. The accused purchased the counterfeit currency with Children Bank of India printed in the place of Reserve Bank of India from Khaja for 3 lakh,” police said.
