Trichy: The air customs authorities seized 1.8kg of gold valued at 1.1 crore from two passengers who arrived at the Trichy International Airport from Singapore and Dubai.
According to the sleuths from the air intelligence unit (AIU), they seized gold weighing 995.5g of 24 karat purity valued at 60.4 lakh. The gold was extracted from paste like material which was concealed in the rectum of a passenger, who arrived from Dubai by an Air India Express flight on Saturday night.
In another incident, the customs seized seven gold biscuits of 24 karat purity weighing 700g and another gold jewel of 22 karat purity weighing 94g which was concealed in the shorts waistband and shorts pocket respectively.
The passenger had from Singapore by an Air India Express flight.
