KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence seized a variety of smuggled goods, collectively valued at more than Rs. 6 billion in a series of information-based raids conducted from July to December 2023.
Customs Intelligence Karachi Director, Engineer Habib Ahmed told The Express Tribune that the anti-smuggling campaign, led by Additional Director Afzal Watto and supported by Deputy Director Wasif Malik, Superintendent Irshad Shah, and other officers, have foiled several smuggling bids.
During the aforementioned period, the teams confiscated a range of smuggled items, including auto parts valued at Rs. 2.19 billion, 47 smuggled vehicles worth over Rs83 million, 89 kilograms of smuggled cloth valued at more than Rs440 million, and vehicles used in smuggling worth more than Rs540 million.
