Chandigarh: The operation cell of Chandigarh police busted a racket related to illegal liquor transportation and storage, confiscating a tempo with 640 boxes of English liquor/wine and 2468 boxes of various brands of beer, worth Rs 79 lakh. The liquor was stored at a godown in Sector 22C, Chandigarh.
Four persons — identified as Rakesh Kumar Dheer (52), a wine contractor from Raipur Kalan Mohali, Phase 11, Mohali; Karambir Singh (39), a wine contractor from Berka, Badshahpur, Gurgaon, Haryana; Naveen (29), a tempo driver from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh; and Sant Parkash (34), a tempo helper from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh — have been arrested in the matter.
In this regard, a case has been registered under Sections 61, 1, 14 Excise Act at Sector 17 police station.
