MAWKYRWAT, Nov 3: A woman was arrested on Saturday after being found in possession of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in Tilagaon village, under Rajai BOP in Ranikor, South West Khasi Hills.

The BSF alerted Meghalaya Police to a large quantity of FICN hidden in the home of a woman identified as Tengdi Sangma, 42, in Tilagaon. Acting on this information, police conducted a raid on the residence and seized counterfeit currency worth Rs 72,000, leading to the arrest of Sangma. She will be held in judicial custody for 14 days. The FICN are scheduled to be sent to a bank on Monday for official verification, though initial assessments suggest they are indeed fake.
