During a recent vehicle-checking operation ahead of the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, a Static Surveillance Team (SST) found gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1.6 crore in a private vehicle at the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge in Pune’s Aundh.
Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pune city, said the ornaments were seized from one Yogesh Kumar Parmar in a courier vehicle.
The seized consignment included four kilogram of silver worth Rs 4,16,632 and 2.511 kilogram of gold estimated at Rs 1,57,96,124. The seized valuables have been handed over to the Income Tax and the GST department for further investigation, the police said.
