In a significant crackdown on circulation of fake currency in state, Assam Police conducted a raid against a counterfeit currency operation, unearthing a staggering amount of fake currency valued at approximately Rs 2 crore in Dhubri’s Chapar.
The operation, spearheaded by the Circle Police Officer of Pamkhedi Chapar and the officer-in-charge of Sapar police station, unfolded during a late night operation in Barghola, located within Dhirghat of Sapar.
An individual identified as Sahinur Islam, a resident of Dhirghat in Chapar, who was allegedly orchestrating an extensive counterfeit currency network, was apprehended by the police. Islam’s purported involvement in this illicit enterprise had long been a matter of concern, with allegations suggesting his utilization of mystical practices such as tantra mantras to perpetrate fraudulent schemes involving counterfeit money.
