New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Special Cell achieved a significant breakthrough by busting an interstate Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) syndicate. Three key members, including an under-training BUMS doctor and a CSC centre owner, were arrested, and a haul of FICN equivalent to Rs 50 lakh was recovered from their possession.
The arrested individuals, identified as Asif Ali, Danish Ali, and Sartaj Khan, have reportedly been involved in printing and supplying FICN for the past five years. The operation unfolded after a tip-off about Asif’s engagement in the printing and trafficking of fake Indian currency notes.
Sources were deployed to gather specific information about Asif, his modus operandi, and other syndicate members. The investigation revealed that Asif and his associates, numbering 2-3, would rendezvous near the Akshardham Metro Station in the intervening night of December 30, 2023, carrying a substantial quantity of fake Indian currency notes, which they would then supply to their associates in Delhi.
