Assam Police Seize Fake Currency Printing Machine In Nagaon, 3 Arrested
GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Thursday, September 8, seized one Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) making machine, counterfeited currency notes, and arrested three persons in connection to the bust in two separate operations in Nagaon district.
Based on secret information, a team of police personnel from Kachua Police Station in Nagaon district launched an operation.

On Friday, investigators from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence foiled a significant attempt at smuggling and confiscated gold worth about Rs 5.6 crore in Tiruchy. According to sources, three teams on duty at the airport screened passengers from two Malaysian aircraft, a Singapore airline, and one from Dubai. From 57 people, the crews were able to retrieve around 11 kg of gold. This is DRI’s largest seizure of the year in Tiruchy.
Meanwhile, the DRI apprehended two airline passengers and members of the cabin staff in April and collected 2.5 kilogramme of gold from them. The DRI foiled many inventive smuggling schemes last year in which gold was hidden inside toothpaste, cosmetics, and beauty products. A traveller was taken hostage from the airport by a smuggling racket ring in March 2021.

Fake Ecommerce Website Racket Busted, Two Arrested For Defrauding Users Of INR 60 Lakh
The Delhi Police has reportedly busted a pan-India racket that duped users of INR 60 Lakh through fake ecommerce websites.
According to IANS, the racket was busted in an operation conducted by the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) wing of the Delhi Police.
Two people, Ravi Arora and Dinesh Sharma, were picked up in connection with the case after raids were conducted at multiple places in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.

Eluru Police Destroy Illegal Liquor Worth Rs 1.29 Crore
Eluru district police and Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) officials destroyed 61,235 liquor bottles worth around Rs 1. 29 crores on Tuesday. The liquor bottles were seized in connection with 1,482 cases registered in the last two years at 26 police stations in the district related to the illegal smuggling of liquor in Eluru. Police have also destroyed 8,270 litres of illicit liquor.
Under the supervision of District SP Rahul Dev Sharma, the police officials destroyed liquor bottles and buried illicit liquor in the ground. The bottles were crushed at Eluru Ashram Hospital near the Eluru Highway. SEB District in-charge Additional SP K. Chakraborty, SEB Superintendent Aruna Kumari, Eluru in-charge DSP Paideswara Rao, and inspectors, sub-inspectors, and district police personnel participated in the event.

Chennai Air Customs officials seized 2.52 kg of gold estimated at ₹1.14 crore at Chennai airport in a series of cases since August 18 and 420 g of gold from postal parcel at Foreign Post Office.
On August 21, Chennai Air Customs officials held four Sri Lankan nationals and on examination, they found these passengers had concealed 1.310 kg of gold in their rectum, according to a press release.
In another case, when the officials checked an aircraft (flight 6E- I 208), 284 g of gold was found hidden in the rear side inside cushion of the passenger seat.

Fake currency with Rs 92.18 Cr face value seized in 2020-21, highest since 2017
National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has revealed that fake currency with a face value of Rs 92.18 crore was seized in 2020.
This is 30.4% more than in 2017. Law enforcement authorities seized fake currency with a face value of Rs 28.10 crores in 2017
As per RBI, the value of counterfeit notes detected in the banking system has reduced from Rs 43.47 crores in 2016-17 to Rs 8.26 crores in 2021-22. In 2020, Rs 5.45 crores were detected by the RBI in the banking system.
