Smuggling of Phensedyl, narcotics, fake notes continues amid lockdown on Bengal-Bangladesh border.
According to BSF officials, most of the smuggling along the India Bangladesh border takes place through the South Bengal Frontier.
Notwithstanding the lockdown and sealing of the international border along West Bengal and Bangladesh in response to the coroanvirus pandemic, miscreants across the India Bangladesh border are still actively smuggling Phensedyl, narcotics and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).
On Friday, guards at the Border Security Force’s (BSF) Dayarampur outpost, who hitherto knew that narcotics could be found inside vehicles and clothes, had the new experience of seizing several bottles of Phensedyl hidden under cooked khichdi.
In the past two weeks, the South Bengal Frontier of the BSF has seized more than 6,000 units of Phensedyl, a cough syrup usually smuggled from India to Bangladesh, in at least ten cases. Half a dozen of people were arrested in these incidents. Apart from this, in the past two days alone, 1,850 units of Phensedyl were seized in two separate incidents

RCMP Seize liquor and drugs in two dry communities.
A 27-year-old female is facing a number of charges after police seized a large quantity of liquor and illegal drugs.
Police say that First Nation Safety Officers and officers from the Norway House RCMP detachment made a number of check stops and patrols to make sure people were complying local resolutions the bans alcohol from the community.
Between March 27 and 28, 2020 officers seized more than 1000 cans of beer. Officers also issued more than &7,000.00 in fines under the Highway Traffic Act and the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba.

On March 29, 2020, RCMP from Poplar River and Berens River made four stops on the winter road seizing 74 bottles of liquor, 24 cans of beer, 36 grams of Cocaine and more than 1500 grams of Cannabis.
The woman who was arrested has been charged for her alleged involvement with Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Distributing and Failing to Comply with a Probation order.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods and drugs worth Tk 65.33 crore from across the country in the last month.
Besides, 342 people were arrested for smuggling goods and drugs during this period, BGB said in a press release.
BGB also detained 27 Bangladeshis and six Indians for crossing the border illegally. Legal actions were taken against them.
The seized contraband items are – 9,33,082 pieces of Yaba pills, 40,314 bottles of phensedyl, 9,685 bottles of foreign liquor, 469 liters of local liquor, 139 can beer, 928 kg hemp, 280 grams heroin, 2,96,665 injections and different types of tablets.
Other seized smuggled goods are – 4.426 kg gold,58.470 kg silver,86,128 sets of imitation ornaments, 62,131 sets cosmetics, 2,067 sarees, 2,488 sets of three pieces, 5,550 RMG products, 13,566 kg tea leaves, 2,841 CFT wood, seven trucks, one pick-up van, 18 engine-run auto-rickshaws and 87 motorcycles.
Cops seize liquor bottles worth Rs 3 lakh.
KHAMMAM: The Khammam task force police on Monday seized liquor bottles worth`3 lakh that were being sold from a wine shop at Jublipura in the town amid lockdown.
The officials also took a person named Pavan, the owner of the wine shop, into custody for selling liquor bottles by neglecting government orders demanding the closure of all liquor shops in view of the lockdown. Meanwhile, the task force police also made surprise visits to chicken and red meat shops in the town. During the visit, they booked cases on 11 persons for flouting rules.In the meantime, Khammam two town police arrested four persons for consuming ganja near Saritha clinic. The officials also seized 250gm ganja from their possession.

The masks were stored for black marketing.

Catherine De Bolle, the executive director of Europol, has warned the public not to buy medicines online which claim to cure COVID-19. “Not only are these medicines fake,” De Bolle said in a Twitter posting, “but dangerous too.”
The warning comes as Europol announced the success of Operation Pangea, a global law enforcement operation involving a total of 90 countries that was coordinated by INTERPOL. “Operation Pangea shows that criminals will stop at nothing to make a profit,” INTERPOL secretary general, Jürgen Stock, said.
Suspect to appear before court for smuggling illicit cigarettes.
A 31-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Lehurutshe Magistrates’ Court today on charges of smuggling counterfeit cigarettes.
The suspect was arrested on Friday, 20 March, by police at the Kopfontein border in the North West.
Police were conducting an inspection at the port of entry when they stopped an Isuzu bakkie of a courier company for a search.
Police discovered 75 master boxes of cigarettes, with an estimated value of R1.25 million.
The driver was arrested and charged for contravening Section (180) and Section 15(1) (a) of the Customs and Excise Act, 1964.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Major General Ryno Naidoo, welcomed the arrest and commended the police for their vigilance.
He said the arrest and seizure will send a clear message that transnational crimes will not be tolerated and perpetrators will not be spared.

The Central Crime Branch sleuths have seized 8,500 bottles of hand sanitisers that were being sold for exorbitant rates.S
The Bengaluru police on Friday raided godowns in the city and arrested two men for manufacturing fake hand sanitizers and hand rubs, which are currently in huge demand in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The Economic Offences Wing of the Central Crime Branch seized 8,500 bottles of hand sanitizers worth Rs 56 lakh.
According to the Karnataka Health Department, the 104 helpline had received several complaints of hand sanitizers running out of stock due to high demand and many had allegedly complained that the hand sanitizers were fake. Health Department officials say they notified the city police too. However, on Friday, the CCB sleuths received a tip off that fake sanitizers were being manufactured at godowns in the city.
