Federal prosecutors alleged that the two men collaborated to facilitate a trafficking network designed to profit from the unlawful sale of contraband cigarettes and that they transported large quantities of cigarettes across state lines for redistribution and sale.
PACP cautions against websites selling fake goods; says crackdown has curbed menace of duplicates
Director general, PACP, said online shoppers especially face the risk of landing duplicates and should be careful which website they order from. He said the issue of websites selling fake products is a big concern for PACP. Fake or inferior quality items are available across a range of products including cosmetics, body creams, shampoos, mobile phones, automobile spare parts, sunglasses, tableware etc.
BIR urges public to report fake, smuggled cigarettes
THE BUREAU of Internal Revenue (BIR) is urging cigarette buyers to report fake or smuggled packs they found using the “Stamp Verifier App.”
The Stamp Verifier App scans the tax stamps affixed on cigarette packs. A message saying “Invalid QR Code” means the cigarettes could be counterfeited or smuggled.

Holyoke man accused in multi-state illegal cigarette distribution ring
A Holyoke man is facing several charges after investigators allege he was running an illegal cigarette distribution network across several New England states.
Investigators allege that Perez would reportedly deliver trash bags full of cartons and half cases of illegal untaxed cigarettes to individuals, other known illegal cigarette traffickers.
“This is a successful example of what states can do when we work together to stop trafficking in illegal untaxed tobacco products.” said Connecticut’s Commissioner of Revenue Kevin Sullivan in a statement.
