Baddi unit caught making fake BP drug under Glenmark label
Spurious drugs manufactured in the name of Glenmark Pharma were seized from Aclime Formulations at Thana village in the Baddi industrial area during a raid conducted by officials of the Drugs Control Administration (DCA).
The raid, which began last night, continued till 9 am today. The firm was manufacturing a leading blood pressure drug of Glenmark Pharma despite having only a food licence. The QR code, too, had been adroitly copied, which made it difficult to differentiate between the fake and the original product.

Twin hauls lay bare tactics to smuggle coal
Two seizures of smuggled coal in the Asansol-Durgapur police commissionerate in the past week have revealed tactics of subterfuge such as illegal coal being transported under the garb of ferrying milk-based products and bakery items so as to get by security screening.
Police intercepted two container trucks, one on Tuesday night and the other in the small hours of Saturday, within Jamuria police station limits to seize smuggled coal pilfered from different Eastern Coalfields mines in the area. Police on Tuesday arrested the truck driver and on Saturday the driver and helper. Search is on for truck owners and alleged smugglers.

Mumbai: The Police arrested a salesman (22) for allegedly printing fake Indian currency notes worth lakhs. The accused has been identified as Rohit Shah. He works as a salesman.
According to the investigating team, the officials from Mankhurd Police had received a tip-off about fake Indian currency notes of Rs. 200, 100 and 50 allegedly being printed from a house in Mankhurd. Following the information, the police raided the house, mid-day reported.
The police found a printer, laptop, paper and fake currency notes of over 7 lakhs from the spot. An officer stated that the police detained Rohit Shah, a resident of Kandivali from the spot. Shah was found at the spot from where the team have seized around Rs. 2 lakhs worth property including equipment used in printing fake notes.

Fake Medicine Sale In Odisha: Glenmark Issues Advisory On How To Know Originality
Bhubaneswar: In the wake of distribution and sale of its duplicate products in Odisha, pharmaceutical company Glenmark has advised the people to purchase medicines only from authorised drug stores and chemists.
In an advisory issued by the company on Thursday, the pharma major condemned duplication of medicines Telma 40 and Telma AM, produced by it. “We at Glenmark, strongly condemn the counterfeiting of our products, Telma 40 and Telma AM in Cuttack, Odisha. We are a responsible corporate citizen and pride ourselves on patient safety. In that respect, we are taking all necessary measures, including closely working with the government authorities, to address this counterfeiting menace,” the company said.

This has also been helped by inadequate measures to check counterfeiting, besides bulk procurement at lower prices from China, causing worry to companies.
For instance, Chinese consumer electronics firm Xiaomi said it seized more than 9,000 counterfeit products, worth ₹73.8 lakh in the first half of 2022 alone. This is a sharp rise from the full calendar year of 2020 when only 3,000 products worth ₹33.3 lakh were seized. “From the Xiaomi portfolio, we have witnessed a heavy piracy of products, such as earphones, chargers, adaptors, and USB cables,” said Muralikrishnan B, president of Xiaomi India .

Pune: Citizens Suffer As Adulterated Paneer Sold In Kondhwa And Wanowrie Area
Pune, 13th September 2022: An unlicensed factory, M. Tiptop Dairy Products in Wanowrie, was raided and found to be making fake paneer on 12th September. The stock was confiscated. 799 kg paneer worth Rs 1,67,790, 348 kg of skimmed milk powder worth Rs 1,21,800, and 268 kg of RBD palmolein oil worth Rs 39, 664, were confiscated. The total cost came to Rs 3,29,254.
A day after the adulterated Paneer factory was busted in Wanowrie, today officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided another such factory in Kondhwa. In the raid at M/s Sadgurukrupa Milk and Milk Products in Tilekarnagar area of Kondhwa, FDA seized skimmed milk powder worth Rs 18.71 lakh and, 1048 kg RBD palmolein oil worth Rs 1.53 lakh, a total worth Rs 22.65 lakh.
