2.5 kg gold seized at Chennai airport
Chennai Air Customs officials seized 2.52 kg of gold estimated at ₹1.14 crore at Chennai airport in a series of cases since August 18 and 420 g of gold from postal parcel at Foreign Post Office.
On August 21, Chennai Air Customs officials held four Sri Lankan nationals and on examination, they found these passengers had concealed 1.310 kg of gold in their rectum, according to a press release.
In another case, when the officials checked an aircraft (flight 6E- I 208), 284 g of gold was found hidden in the rear side inside cushion of the passenger seat.

The Customs sleuths on Wednesday, August 10, seized 332 grams of 24 carat gold worth ₹17.43 lakh from a male passenger at the Mangaluru International Airport.
In a communique, the Customs Mangaluru said that the gold was seized from the passenger hailing from Kasaragod in Kerala soon after he arrived at the airport by SpiceJet flight from Dubai. The gold in the form of paste was mixed with solid gum and concealed inside the sole portion of a pair of slippers worn by the passenger, the communique said.

Spurious pills seized from Barwala factory
The Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Haryana, unearthed a factory from where spurious medicine was being sold at Alipur village in Barwala here today.
According to information, officials of the department had received a tip-off that someone was selling fake products of a factory at Chandpur village in Una district of Himachal Pradesh.

New Delhi: An Indian National travelling from Delhi to Dubai was nabbed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Thursday, after he tried to smuggle out foreign currency worth ₹42.25 lakhs by concealing it in plastic thread rolls. The money was tied around the rolls, with black scotch tape used to conceal these notes, officials said.
As per the CISF, the incident occurred at around 11 am on Thursday, with surveillance and intelligence team of the CISF at Terminal-3 finding the activity of a passenger near row ‘K’ to be suspicious. The man was preparing to fly out to Dubai through a Star Alliance flight number IX-141, which was scheduled to depart at around 1:15 pm, officials said.

6.5 kg of gold seized at Chennai airport
Chennai Air Customs seized 6.5 kg gold and electronic goods worth Rs. 3.09 crores at Chennai airport in different incidents.
Two passengers identified as Mohammed Ibrahim and Sathik Ali who came from Dubai on August 3 and August 4 respectively were held by the officials on suspicion. They had concealed gold in the form of paste and two gold chains in their pant pockets, according to a press release. The officials recovered 2.9 kg of gold worth Rs. 1.38 crore, electronic goods and cigarettes worth Rs. 8.75 lakhs.

Officers of the Commissioner of Customs (Preventive Commissionerate) have seized huge quantity of foreign cigarettes and illegal Indian-made cigarettes, all valued at about ₹3.45 crore.
On a tip-off, the officers tracked a container at Kesarapalli village on the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam National Highway on Wednesday.
Upon checking, the officers found that the container was loaded with 156 sacks containing the smuggled cigarettes. The vehicle was coming from Patna to Vijayawada.
