Fake Medicine Sale In Odisha: Glenmark Issues Advisory On How To Know Originality
Bhubaneswar: In the wake of distribution and sale of its duplicate products in Odisha, pharmaceutical company Glenmark has advised the people to purchase medicines only from authorised drug stores and chemists.
In an advisory issued by the company on Thursday, the pharma major condemned duplication of medicines Telma 40 and Telma AM, produced by it. “We at Glenmark, strongly condemn the counterfeiting of our products, Telma 40 and Telma AM in Cuttack, Odisha. We are a responsible corporate citizen and pride ourselves on patient safety. In that respect, we are taking all necessary measures, including closely working with the government authorities, to address this counterfeiting menace,” the company said.

NEW DELHI: Strong demand for portable electronics and accessories in India has led to a flourishing parallel offline and online market for counterfeit goods comprising fakes, stolen and illegally imported products. This has also been helped by inadequate measures to check counterfeiting, besides bulk procurement at lower prices from China, causing worry to companies.
For instance, Chinese consumer electronics firm Xiaomi said it seized more than 9,000 counterfeit products, worth ₹73.8 lakh in the first half of 2022 alone. This is a sharp rise from the full calendar year of 2020 when only 3,000 products worth ₹33.3 lakh were seized. “From the Xiaomi portfolio, we have witnessed a heavy piracy of products, such as earphones, chargers, adaptors, and USB cables,” said Muralikrishnan B, president of Xiaomi India .

Pune: Citizens Suffer As Adulterated Paneer Sold In Kondhwa And Wanowrie Area
Pune, 13th September 2022: An unlicensed factory, M. Tiptop Dairy Products in Wanowrie, was raided and found to be making fake paneer on 12th September. The stock was confiscated. 799 kg paneer worth Rs 1,67,790, 348 kg of skimmed milk powder worth Rs 1,21,800, and 268 kg of RBD palmolein oil worth Rs 39, 664, were confiscated. The total cost came to Rs 3,29,254.
A day after the adulterated Paneer factory was busted in Wanowrie, today officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided another such factory in Kondhwa. In the raid at M/s Sadgurukrupa Milk and Milk Products in Tilekarnagar area of Kondhwa, FDA seized skimmed milk powder worth Rs 18.71 lakh and, 1048 kg RBD palmolein oil worth Rs 1.53 lakh, a total worth Rs 22.65 lakh.

Fake Currency Notes Worth Over Rs 16 Lakh Seized In Rourkela, 1 Arrested
Sundargarh: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Sunday seized fake currency notes worth more than Rs 16 lakh and arrested one inter-state criminal from Sector-17, Rourkela, under Sector-15 Police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
The accused has been identified as Sk Ahemmad of Mollarbandh under Badarpur police limits in Delhi.
According to sources, STF conducted the raid on Saturday on the basis of reliable information about the illegal business of fake currency notes.

Crackdown on Fake Medicine Suppliers in Odisha
TNI Bureau: The Cuttack District Chemist & Druggist Association has cancelled the memberships of VR Agency & Puja Enterprises following the police raids and complaints lodged against them for selling duplicate medicines.
The association has also demanded strong action against the two pharma distributors for selling duplicate spurious hypertension medicine Telma-40.
A FIR was lodged against the two firms at Purighat PS on Saturday.
