Customs officers on Sunday caught a female passenger with 770 gm gold worth ₹39.90 lakh that was being illegally smuggled at the Chandigarh International Airport in the form of bangles.

Gujarat: 30,260 kilograms of ‘fake cumin’ seized from Unjha godown
The flying squad of FDCA, Gandhinagar, local FDCA officials and Gujarat police conducted the raid on the godown on Gangapur-Rampur road belonging to Dilip Patel.
The accused, who are yet to be arrested, used to mix residue of fennel seeds, jaggery-water and cream-coloured powder to make the spurious cumin.
A total of 30,260 kilograms of spurious cumin seeds and raw materials were seized from a godown in Unjha, a well-known hub, by the Food and Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) Thursday. Unjha is the biggest market and exporting centre for spices like cumin, fennel seeds, Isabgol and mustard seeds.

New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): Delhi Customs has seized a total of 7,10,000 sticks of foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 1 crore in the national capital on Friday.
Apart from these foreign-origin cigarettes, packets of Indian brand cigarettes containing a total of 30,21,500 sticks were also found.
“No documents could be shown by the owner of the goods about the procurement of such goods. The owner of the goods, who got the premises hired, has been apprehended. Further enquiry is on,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

ONGOLE: The Prakasam Police and the SEB officials under the supervision of the district SP Malika Garg destroyed non-duty paid liquor (NDPL) worth around Rs 2.14 crore in Ongole on Wednesday. The police destroyed a total of 42,810 bottles of illegal liquor, by crushing them with a road roller.
Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that since 2019, SEB officials and police have conducted raids and inspections in various parts of the district and seized large quantities of illicit liquor. A total of 42,810 liquor bottles of various brands seized in 904 cases (other State NDPL cases and Duty Paid Liquor without Seals cases) registered in SEB stations and Police Stations in the district, valued at about Rs 2.14 crore.

The cops seized a truck loaded with 7,440 bottles of IMLF on June 12 evening. The vehicle was transporting the stock from a liquor Godown in Sector 46 to another one in Sector 47, police asserted.
The stock is worth more than Rs. 25 lakh. The seized stock will be surrendered soon to the Haryana excise department, Hindustan Times reported. The Godown owner allegedly forged a permit and was illegally transporting the stock.
