Haryana Police seizes 7,080 bottles of illicit liquor being smuggled to Uttar Pradesh
CHANDIGARH: Haryana Police on Wednesday seized 7080 Indian Made Foreign Liquor bottles packed in 590 cartoons from two vehicles with Dak Parcel written on them in Sonipat district.
The liquor was being smuggled from Chandigarh to Uttar Pradesh. Two persons were also arrested in this connection.
Giving this information, police spokesperson informed that in the first case, a police team acting on a tip-off, impounded a container bearing Delhi registration number near Bhainswal village and seized 4,440 bottles (370 cartons) of IMFL.

Delhi officials foil yet another smuggling attempt as they discovered 90 iPhones — all iPhone 12 Pro — in boxes labeled as “garments.”
Due to import taxes, it is very expensive to import devices like Apple’s iPhone to India. Many people attempt to fool customs by smuggling the devices in through sketchy means.

Rs322m smuggled Indian cosmetics recovered
LAHORE: “Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has recovered Indian cosmetic goods worth Rs 322 million and its ancillary items”. Director I&I Syed Asad Raza Rizvi said this while addressing a press conference on Monday morning at the Directorate. He said the Directorate had received credible information that huge cache of cosmetic goods and its ancillary imported items are being smuggled across the city, evading huge amount of duty and taxes.
Accordingly, he said, the anti-smuggling squads pursued the vehicle loaded with contraband and smuggled imported goods and nabbed the vehicle near Bhati Chowk (Data Darbar) and recovered the smuggled goods from India.

Gold worth Rs 1cr seized from Kannur airport
Kochi: Air intelligence unit sleuths of air customs at Kannur International Airport Ltd seized 1.89kg gold valued at nearly Rs 1 crore from two abandoned packets on Saturday.
The gold valued at Rs 99,85,905 was found in two abandoned packets in compound form. “The gold compound was recovered after rummaging through the toilet waste of an Air India flight from Abu Dhabi via Kannur to Cochin. The gold was found and recovered as abandoned. The gold compound paste weighing 2,126 grams was found from toilet waste of the flight. Later, pure gold was extracted from it.

Gold seized at Mangaluru airport
Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport seized 430 gram of smuggled gold valued at ₹20.89 lakh from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on July 2.
The passenger, Moideen Munasir Padinhar Mohammed, hails from Puthur in Kasaragod district of Kerala. He had concealed the gold in powder form mixed with solid gum in his rectum. He arrived by Air India Express flight IX 248. A case was registered against him, according to a Customs press release.
The team, which intercepted the passenger based on intelligence inputs, comprised Deputy Commissioner Praveen Kandi, Superintendents Rakesh Kumar and Vikas Kumar, and others, according to the release.

Assam Rifles seize foreign cigarettes in Mizoram

Gold worth Rs 17 lakh seized from Dubai passenger at Jaipur airport
JAIPUR: The customs department at Jaipur International Airport seized around 350 grams of gold worth around Rs 17 lakh from a passenger who landed here from Dubai on Friday night.
The passenger has not been arrested as the gold is within the allowed limit.
“The passenger was intercepted after thorough examination of his baggage. The gold was concealed in the form of a wire in trolley bags, wire in mouth organs, gold plates in hair straightener, clips in footwear and rings in keychains. The gold was plated with white rhodium to conceal the golden colour,” said an official.
