Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 10,540 e-cigarettes worth Rs 1.55 crore during a raid at a commercial building in C-scheme area in the city on Thursday.
This is the second major seizure by the DRI in a week, as part of their ongoing operation “Vape Out”. The operation aims to crack down on the illegal smuggling and selling of e-cigarettes in Jaipur.
The seizure was made possible after the interrogation of an accused, Sunil Kumar Sharma, who was arrested earlier with the illegal possession of 8,400 e-cigarettes.
A senior DRI officer said the seizures were a result of their ongoing efforts to curb the illegal trade of e-cigarettes in the city. E-cigarettes are being smuggled into Jaipur from countries like Dubai, Hong Kong and China, he said.
