Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Saturday booked five men for allegedly selling duplicate products under a leading cosmetics brand name. Counterfeit products worth Rs 9 lakh were seized in raids conducted on their workplaces following a complaint filed by the brand’s legal attorney. Nayanthara Demy David, who filed the complaint, said that she and two other company employees were looking into complaints of fake products and found that five men identified as Suresh Rana, 43, from Sheth ni Pol in Kalupur, Sohail Shaikh, 42, from Juhapura, Iliyas Mansuri, 56, from Dhalgarwad in Karanj and Ashfaq Shaikh, 39, from Nagina pol in Dariapur, were selling duplicate products under the company’s brand name.
They have been booked under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Copyright Act.
