Jaipur police on Wednesday arrested three members of a gang involved in the circulation of counterfeit currency and recovered fake notes worth Rs 85 lakh from them in Bagru.
DCP (West) Amit Kumar identified the arrested individuals as Surendra Singh (50), Shivam Singh Bareth (24), and Prem Chand (45).
During interrogation, the police uncovered Rs 85 lakh in counterfeit notes, adding to the Rs 9 lakh in fake currency previously seized from these criminals. All the counterfeit notes were in denominations of Rs 500. Kumar revealed that the gang used a color printer to produce the fake notes, which were then cut with a cutter. To disguise the counterfeit currency, they placed real notes on the top and bottom of bundles of fake notes. The gang would then travel to rural areas, targeting unsuspecting farmers and purchasing livestock, particularly sheep and goats, using the counterfeit money. On August 14, the criminals rented a truck from VKI under false pretenses.
