Belagavi: Yamakanamaradi police seized a truck transporting a substantial amount of liquor, totalling 16,848 litres, worth Rs 28 lakh in a large-sized container. The truck was en route from Goa to Andhra Pradesh when it was intercepted by police on Saturday late at night. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the individuals involved in the transportation displayed false documents, claiming that the truck was carrying computer hardware items.
However, the police quickly uncovered their deception and seized the illegal liquor shipment. A case has been registered at the Yamakanamaradi police station, and two individuals- Santosh Halase, 33 and Sadashiv Girade, 43, both from Maharashtra, have been arrested in connection with the illegal transport, said SP Dr Bhimashankar Guled in a release. The authorities are now investigating the matter further.
