Hisar: A team of officials from the north regional office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted raids in Hisar, Jind and Bhiwani and unearthed four fake hallmarking centres. These centres were operating without BIS licences.
While two such centres were unearthed in Hisar, a centre each was busted in Jind and Bhiwani. After investigation, action will be taken against all the centres, said a BIS official.
Deputy director general, BIS, Rajeev P said during the raids fake hallmarked gold jewellery was seized from the premises of SKC Hallmarking Centre, Bhiwani; Mahalaxmi Gold Testing Centre and Mahalaxmi Hallmarking Centre in Hisar; and Jind-based Kikan Enterprises.
Hallmarked jewellery was being sold without a valid BIS licence at these centres, said Rajeev P, adding that action was being initiated by the BIS, north regional office, against the offenders under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
