Vijayawada: The officials of the Central GST Commissionerate of Guntur and Vijayawada inspected a DTDC hub at Gannavaram and seized cigarettes worth ₹2.46 crore which were being transported illegally.
Based on specific information, the officials led by Central GST commissioner Sadhu Narasimha Reddy inspected the DTDC premises and found cigarettes with the brand name ‘Gold Step’ and ‘Gold Vimal’ manufactured by Gold Step Tobacco Private Limited.
The officials said that the cigarette packets which value around ₹2.46 crore were declared worth just Rs 8 lakh in the invoice and added that they also lacked essential markings, including manufacturing and expiry dates, raising suspicion about the legality of the transportation.
