One person has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle illegal liquor worth Rs 40 lakh hidden under the sacks of paddy husk in Bihar’s Nawada, police said on Saturday.
After receiving a tip-off, the police of the excise department intercepted a truck and recovered the consignment of liquor at Rajauli integrated check post, when it was being smuggled from Jharkhand’s Chauparan into Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
“A total of 3,481 bottles of foreign liquor were hidden in 395 cartons under the paddy straw in a truck. The liquor is valued to be around Rs 40 lakh rupees,” an official said. Also, the truck bearing registration number JH 09M 1878 has also been confiscated.
