A man was arrested in Bihar’s Saran district for allegedly smuggling liquor concealed in a teddy bear belonging to his minor nephew, the Excise Department officials said.
The excise sleuths recovered several tetra packs of liquor from inside the teddy bear.
The new and unique method of liquor smuggling came to light when the accused, coming from Uttar Pradesh, was intercepted by the officials of the Bihar Excise Department at a checkpost located on the UP-Bihar border in Saran district.
According to Excise Department officials, suspicion on the accused arose when a big and heavy-sized teddy bear was spotted in the hands of a child, aged between 7-8 years, travelling along with the accused in a commercial vehicle.
Upon checking the teddy bear with a scanner, the excise department officials confirmed the presence of suspicious items inside it, following which they checked it thoroughly and seized several tetra packs of liquor from inside it.
