Mangaluru: Customs officials confiscated smuggled gold worth Rs 54.3 lakhs from a passenger at Mangaluru International Airport on April 27.
The passenger hailing from Dakshin Kannada District of Karnataka was found to have concealed three oval-shaped objects containing gold in paste form weighing 825 gms in his rectum. On extraction,
Gold of 24-carat purity weighing 750.000 grams (net), valued at Rs. 54,30,000/- was recovered and seized, the officials said in a release on social media platform X.
