The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Tuesday conducted a raid on the clinic of a quack in Telangana’s Warangal and seized unauthorised drugs worth Rs 52,000, officials said. During the raid, the officials uncovered huge stocks of medicines stored on the premises, all without the required drug license.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the DCA team raided the clinic of one Madhavaraju Birudaraju, located at a village in Warangal district, who was claiming himself as a “Rural Medical Practitioner” and practising medicine without proper qualifications.
During the raids, officials found as many as 48 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, analgesics, cough syrups, anti-ulcer drugs, antihypertensives, IV fluids and others. The confiscated stock had an estimated value of Rs. 52,000.
Furthermore, the DCA officials identified several higher-generation ‘antibiotics’ during the raid at the clinic.
